Time Magazine awards the title to the person who “most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year.” Neda moved us to tears, gave us hope and moved millions to take action – all without uttering a word.
UPDATE* TIME MAGAZINE IS A FUCKING JOKE. Where are their votes this TIME?
The death of Neda Agha-Soltan drew international attention when her shooting, during the 2009 Iranian election protests, was captured on video by bystanders and broadcast over the internet.
The video quickly became a rallying point for the reformist opposition. Nedā (ندا) is also the Persian (Farsi) word for “voice“, “calling” or “divine message,” and she has been referred to as the “voice of Iran“.
